WHY ESPORTS?

BELONGING

It is very common to hear or read stories about kids who exclusively play video games having no social or emotional connection to their school or peers.  Most of these kids don't play traditional sports or participate in clubs.  When the school day is over, they go home and play video games for hours and with people that they are unable to build lasting relationships with.

However, local esports programs, like MC Esports Academy, are changing all of that.  Esports programs, like ours, give these kids a sense of belonging and opportunities to connect with their peers and local community.  They are able to develop tangible social groups and learn how to interact with each other that goes beyond their mic and screen.  And, esports is one of the very few competitive activities that boys and girls play, compete, and socialize together in a fun and safe environment.  It is the sense of this type of belonging that is greatest strength and value of esports.  Many kids who desire to feel like part of something aren’t getting it anywhere else.

SETTING THE HIGHER ED FOUNDATION

Where are you going to college?  Are you going to college?  Can you afford to go to college?  These are questions that our students get asked over and over again.  The college and university evaluation process is a difficult one but can be made easier if you are already part of an esports team.  Did you know that almost 2,000 colleges and universities now offer esports programs and many of those institutions offer esports scholarships.  And on top of that, there are over 20 million dollars of scholarship money available to students each year.  Even crazier, approximately 4-5 million dollars worth of scholarships go unused each year because some colleges and universities are unable to recruit enough students for their programs.  The bottom line is there has never been a better time to be a gamer and wanting to go to college.  Click/touch on the buttons below to search for colleges and universities that have esports programs and offer scholarships.

ESPORTS LEADS TO A LOT

One of the most common question asked about esports is, "what can esports actually do for you?"  As it turns out, esports can lead you to great many professional opportunities.  According to current research done by Associate Professor of Sports Sociology, Nicolas Besombes, skills and experience kids and young adults build from esports have direct relationships to core professions like education, entertainment, administration, business, sales and marketing, communication, information technology, events organization, media, and performance optimization.  Some indirect examples include: performance management, health management, caster, streamer, teacher, HR, network technician, and many others.  Besombes's research has been formated into a Esports Professions Chart featured below:
