MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAMS
THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS WE SERVE
MC Esports Academy serves ALL middle schools and Jr. highs in McHenry County Illinois and surrounding areas. If your middle school doesn't offer a competitive esports club, team, or program, then we invite you to join ours. With our partnership with the Middle School Esports League (MESL), our middle school esports teams go up against other middle school teams in the quest for the coveted MSEL National Championship.
THE VALUE OF OUR ESPORTS PROGRAM
One of the biggest misconceptions about esports is that it just a big waste of time that will get you nowhere. This idea about esports could not be further from the truth. University/collage and professional opportunities generated by esports have skyrocketed over the past 5 years and are not slowing down. According to NACE, NJCAA, ECAC, EUA, and other collegiate esports organizations, there are almost 2,000 collages and universities with esports programs with over 20 million dollars of scholarship money available to students each year. Even crazier, approximately 4-5 million dollars worth of scholarships go unused each year because some colleges and universities are unable to recruit enough students for their programs.
The value and importance of our program is to give high school gamers opportunities to compete with their peers and most importantly help them gain experience and exposure so they can get recruited by a college or university and maybe even snag some of that scholarship money. In addition, our students learn important life lessons along the way such as self-confidence, communication, respect, team work, commitment, time management, gaming life balance, winning, and loosing.

PROGRAM DETAILS
Our middle school program is very simple. MSEL competition is seasonal; spring, summer, and fall. Team commitment is very important but not required for the entire year. We have students who compete in just one season a year and others who compete all year round. During each season, teams will typically practice (scrim) 3-4 days a week and compete in an official MSEL match once a week. The games offered for middle school students are: Rocket League, Knockout City, Minecraft (Survival Games), Pokémon Unite, and 10 Minute Chess.
Since our esports arena is still in development, our students practice and compete from their homes using their own equipment. However, once a week, all teams get together in-person to discuss previous game play, prepare for the next match, and receive a weekly lesson from our coaches.
